Rules Team Meeting Minutes - 5/11/06

Attendees - Christian, SailSD, Mobetter, AkaGP, Ziggy Stardust, Clewless, Sailmaker Bob P.

Minutes

Agenda --
1. Get latest feedback from sea trials -- focus on areas that affect class rules.
2. Continue discussion on wording for sprit deployment at winward marks.
3. Continue the endless topic -- sails
4. Formulate a schedule for release of version Alpha of class rules.

1. Sea-trial feedback--
a. Keel box was dry during entire period. Keel lift was not yet tried.
b. Discussion on main-trim setup -- improvements as identified by Bob p. and Ben s.
c. Jib lead -- adjustment range will be very small due to jib size and aspect ratio.
d. Sail sizing -- roachier main up high, spin goes to ~1160 sq ft. No need for any more upwind sail area.

2. Sprit deployment at the mark-- definitions
a. Deploy allowed after bow passes imaginary line extended past the windward mark from the leeward mark. Offset marks are excluded from windward marks.

3. Input from our Australian members that Dacron jib and main will not be very durable in their heavy air and not very cost effective. Interest is to go to owner added cost upgrade to aramid. At the minimum to go with an Aramid jib.

4. Tabled for next meeting.
