Summary:
1. Running production changes: (on #19 onwards)
A long list of improvements at the factory was communicated by the
build team (Ben & Loco) to the class. This is in addition to the
quality improvements we are seeing on every new boat. This is the
first step to allow us to evaluate these changes and identify ways
to keep the fleet OD.
a) Mainsheet fine-tune (12:1) added
b ) Backstay -- change to double cascade for more throw and cleaner
layout
c) Motor well door -- new moulded door panel with beefed up guide
pin (single rod glassed in) and improved lifting handle. Better
fairing of door track panels into the hull.
d) Hull smoothness around keel box -- Production control
improvements to fix this.
e) Rudder cassette - single piece gudgeon plate, single pintle pin,
single pintle bearing tube and beefed up strapping. Destruction test
done and met requirements.
f) Headstay length -- corrected and now built per template. (However
we still need Ben/Brian to help quantify the class standard hull/rig
dimensions & weights)
g) Keel improvement -- added bungee to retract the delrins to avoid
damage when lower the keel, symetrical kelp cutter blade and
extended cutting groove to cut both up and down.
h) Outhaul - increased throw by dead-end via a knot and a hole in
the boom.
i) Spin halyard exit - chafe bars added
j) Stern pulpit - eyes added to raise lifeline.
2. Discussions on how to upgrade earlier hulls & track the work to
ensure class rules are followed.
a) Defer to Bill & Brian for upgrade paths.
b ) Team to start a tracking database to note upgrade work on the
early hulls.
3. Other improvements proposed -- to be evaluated by the build team
a) Add camcleats for cabin top winches
b ) Main hatch locking mechanism
c) Fore hatch latch improvements -- to allow opening from inside &
locking from outside.
d) Prod extension tackle and better "in-stop"
Discussions lasted for 3.5 hrs.
Thanks to all for their time and efforts.
